Description

Using the same materials used to cover up the public facing spaces between the makeshift morgues that popped up in and around Brooklyn when Covid-19 first hit New York City, Amato created a series of sculptures that reflect on this time when the city went quiet and the hum of refrigerated truck morgues started to fill the streets around city hospitals. The work is intentionally created badly, seams showing, wonky covers, without crafted skill, to reflect on the urgency of the situation when Covid first struck.
